Every single registered domain has no less than two Name Server records that show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain name to the servers of a particular hosting company. In this way, you've got both your website and your e-mails managed by the exact same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there is a variety of other records, for example A and MX. The former shows which server deals with the site for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter indicates which server deals with the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, when you type a domain name in your Internet browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you may be directed to the servers of a different provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having independent records for the website and the e-mails means you may have your website and your emails with two different companies if you would like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes with each and every Linux cloud hosting we provide, will permit you to see, change and set up A and MX records for any domain or subdomain inside your account. Through the DNS Records section, you'll be able to view a list of all hosts in the account in alphabetical order with their corresponding records, so any update is not going to take you more than a few mouse clicks. Setting up new records is as simple if, for example, you wish to use the email services of a different company and they ask you to create more MX records than the default two. Also you can set the priority for every single MX record by setting different latency. Quite simply, when your emails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it's going to contact the next one. Through our advanced tool, you're going to be able to handle the records of your domain addresses and subdomains with ease even if you have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you buy a semi-dedicated server plan through our company, you will be able to see and update the A and MX records for every one of the domain addresses or subdomains which you host in the account. The Hepsia Control Panel, which you will get to take care of the account, comes with an advanced, though easy-to-use tool in which all hosts will be listed in alphabetical order and you are going to be able to change their records with no more than a couple of clicks. If you have to create a new record, it's going to be just as easy - select the domain/subdomain, enter the IP address or mail server record and you'll be all set. You will also be able to set different priority for the MX records that you create in case that you choose to use a third-party email provider and they ask you to create additional records apart from the two default ones. If you encounter any issues, we have a detailed Help section with videos where you can see first-hand how to create or change any record.
